A Decade of Water Conservation with Rachio: 150 Billion Gallons Saved

This Earth Day, there’s a lot that’s worth celebrating here at Rachio. We just marked 10 years together as an organization founded on saving water. And as for our water efficiency mission? We’ve saved 150 BILLION gallons of water within our Rachio community.

How much is 150 billion gallons of water?

• More than enough to cover a year’s supply of drinking water for the entire United States (plus some!)
• 204,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools
• 5 billion baths

Why is saving water through efficient irrigation so important? Because up to 50% of water used outdoors is wasted, according to the EPA. And in a world with a changing climate and increasing pressure on our water resources, wise conservation and smarter usage really does make a difference.

Expanding the mission by reaching more gardeners, lawn nerds and more!

The Rachio community is expanding every day as more and more homeowners say goodbye to wasteful and outdated tech and make the switch to watering smarter. But we’re not just stopping at yards with irrigation systems. With the new Rachio Smart Hose Timer, we’re making smart watering available and accessible to people with green spaces big and small – no sprinkler system needed.

And while we’re really proud to have saved 150 billion gallons of water from being wasted through inefficient water, we’re not stopping there. We’ve announced our new goal of saving three TRILLION gallons of water through our smart yard products by 2030. That will mean more of our WaterSense labeled smart devices in yards all over the United States, as well as continued technological innovation to get us to peak efficient watering.
