Usage Monitoring

EveryDrop Flow Meter

EveryDrop Flow Meters connect directly to a Rachio controller's sensor terminal to provide real-time water monitoring and automated leak detection in your Rachio App. (Not compatible with first-generation Rachio controllers.) Calibrate the flow meter to monitor water use for individual irrigation zones and trigger alerts for abnormal behavior. The device installs in-line on a standard 1-inch water supply line after a back-flow preventer. (That means that you have to cut pipe in order to install, so we recommend you consider calling a professional to install your flow meter.) Available in wired and wireless models.

ABOUT

Wired or wireless?

There are three key points of distinction between the wired and wireless EveryDrop flow meters.

Display: The wired flow meter has a display on the meter, while the wireless meter does not. The wireless meter comes with a flow interface base station where data is displayed.

Connection: The wired flow meter requires you to run wires from the flow meter to your Rachio controller, usually along the same route as your zone wiring. The wireless model has a range of about 120+ feet with transmission through 1-3 walls. (Range will vary with each property, please test connection strength before installing.)

Underground: The wireless flow meter is not designed to work underground in a valve box, hole, etc. If that is the only place to install your flow meter, you should use the wired version.

Both wired and wireless meters can be connected to a Rachio controller's sensor ports (Gen. 2 or 3). The wireless model is connected via the meter ports on the flow interface base station. See product instructions for more information.

RACHIO APP FEATURES

Flow data in the palm of your hand

Using an EveryDrop Flow Meter with your Rachio Smart Sprinkler Controller allows you to have real-time flow data at your fingertips.

Nervous you might have a leak? Worry no longer. After calibration, your EveryDrop provides real-time leak detection alerts and options for automatic shutoff in the event of severe leaks. It can also tell you exactly how much water each zone is using and if you have low flows, which can help you troubleshoot system issues.

All of this is available, right in your Rachio app.

INSTALLATION

How to set up real-time flow monitoring (wired)

An EveryDrop wired flow meter needs to be installed in-line between your backflow preventer and your valves. This requires cutting into your existing 1-inch water supply pipe. If you have not done irrigation plumbing work before, Rachio recommends you consider calling a professional to install your flow meter.

If you intend to install the flow meter yourself, you'll need a hacksaw or 1-inch pipe cutter, PVC cement, enough 18-2 (18 gauge, 2 conductor) wire to run from the meter to your Rachio controller, and 4 wire nuts or butt splices to join the wires; 1-inch couplers are included.

Once the flow meter is installed, the wires will provide power to the flow meter and return data to your Rachio controller. At that point, you can onboard the flow meter in the Rachio app by adding it as a controller accessory and calibrating your zones.

Please note: EveryDrop flow meters are not compatible with first-generation Rachio controllers, but they are compatible with second-generation controllers and the Rachio 3.
