The gift card expires after two years because it creates a financial liability that we can’t keep on our books forever. It’s common to have companies diminish the value over time, Shopify just forces us to set a time limit. We figured two years would be more than long enough for you or a loved one to make a purchase.
Rachio only offers digital gift cards, which are emailed to the email that places the order after the order is completed. From there, you can share it with whomever you like. Just be careful because the gift card code is like cash, whoever has it can use it.
