Upgrade Your Nozzles

Upgrade Kits contain everything you need to replace the nozzles in one zone of your irrigation system.

Upgrade Kits contain everything you need to replace the nozzles in one zone of your irrigation system.

  • Covers one zone of your irrigation system
  • Each kit contains 9 nozzles
  • Designed for spray heads; NOT rotor heads
  • No special tools required
  • Fits any male-threaded spray body (works with most existing hardware)

Most sprinkler problems start with the sprinkler head. Swapping in a Rain Bird rotary nozzle takes less than a minute and requires no tools. Once those nozzles are in, Rachio can update your watering times for that zone.

Pick the Right Kit for Your Zone

The right kit depends on three things about the zone you want to upgrade: how many spray heads are in it, and how far apart they are. Answer these questions and we'll point you to the right kit.

How many spray heads are in the zone?

While the zone is running, walk your yard and count the heads that pop up. Each kit includes 9 nozzles; enough for one average zone. If your zone has more than 9 heads, you may need additional nozzles.

How far apart are your spray heads?

Measure the average distance between neighboring spray heads in your zone. That is nozzle throw distance you need for full coverage.

  • 14 feet or less -> Small kit
  • More than 14 feet, up to 18 feet -> Medium kit
  • More than 17 feet -> Large kit

Does your zone include any narrow strip areas?

Some zones mix open lawn with narrow strips (like a thin strip between a sidewalk and the street). If your zone includes both, choose a 'with Strip' kit to support those areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. You can simply replace the nozzles on your existing spray heads and upgrade the irrigation controller. This lets you dramatically improve system performance without replacing pipes, valves, or sprinkler bodies.

Most nozzle replacements take less than a minute and require no tools. Just unscrew the existing nozzle and thread in the new nozzle. Tip: Use the Rachio App's Quick Run feature to trigger the zone while you're in the yard so you can check coverage without walking back to the controller.

Probably. Rain Bird Rotary Nozzles fit any male-threaded spray body, which covers the vast majority of residential spray heads. Important: These nozzles are designed for spray heads, not rotor heads. If you're unsure which type you have, spray heads are the smaller heads that pop up and spray a fixed or adjustable arc.
