Solenoid valves are the unsung heroes of the sprinkler system. Often obscured in boxes underground, they control the flow of water through your sprinkler zones and are responsible for executing the watering schedule created by your controller.
While these valves typically have a lifespan of several years, they are still a mechanical part that can eventually fail and need to be replaced. And when a valve failure happens, catching it early can make a world of difference for your yard and your wallet.
How Valve Monitoring can help
Rachio has developed a new Valve Monitoring feature to detect valve issues at the first sign of trouble, before it wreaks havoc on your yard and wallet. It continuously monitors your solenoid valves, assessing their electrical health every time a zone runs. If one of your valves fails a check-up, we’ll report on how the valve is performing and whether it should be checked or replaced.
This information is helpful for DIY homeowners and landscape professionals alike, as it helps to quickly diagnose the issue in your yard and pinpoints where attention is required. Valve Monitoring is a new premium feature available to all Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller users.
